For business leaders and local governments working to advance climate solutions, data is everything. That's why we're excited to introduce the Drawdown Georgia City-Level Greenhouse Gas Emissions Tracker – a free, interactive resource that allows the Georgia climate community to track our state’s progress on climate at an unprecedented level of detail.
Unlike national greenhouse gas inventories, the Drawdown Georgia City-Level Greenhouse Gas Emissions Tracker was developed to show, for the first time, where greenhouse gas emissions come from at the city level in Georgia. This groundbreaking tool transforms complex emissions data into clear, actionable insights that matter to Georgia's communities and businesses:
Monthly emissions data updates that capture seasonal patterns
An analysis of emissions broken down by sector
Local context that reflects Georgia's unique environmental and economic landscape
City-level metrics that can support both public and private sector goals
The City-Level Greenhouse Gas Emissions Tracker can help Georgians working on climate solutions to visualize progress as we work collectively to draw down greenhouse gas emissions in the state. Users can explore the source, rate, and any change in emissions in 217 cities across the state. If your city is not within that inventory, you can continue to use the County Emissions Tracker to get local data.
Advance your climate initiatives with local data that:
Informs climate action planning
Helps to identify opportunities to maximize your impact on climate
Supports grant applications with trusted data
Tracks progress on how climate solutions are scaling over time
Facilitates stakeholder engagement and education
The City-Level Greenhouse Gas Emissions Tracker allows users to track emissions--and our progress in scaling proven, cost-competitive climate solutions for the state of Georgia--across five sectors:
Transportation: Measure the impacts of local progress on electric vehicle adoption and alternative transportation initiatives.
Residential: Track emissions reductions from home energy-efficient retrofits and measure emissions produced by homes in your city.
Commercial: Assess local progress on reducing emissions in area businesses and identify seasonal trends.
Industrial: Track emissions from local industry to guide local policy priorities.
Forestry: Evaluate the effectiveness of urban tree planting and rural forest management efforts.
This greenhouse gas emissions tracking resource was developed by Dr. William Drummond of Georgia Tech, along with colleagues at both Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia. Dr. Drummond and his team also created the State- and County-Level Greenhouse Gas Emissions Tracker, launched in 2022. The State- and County-Level Tracker can be an excellent companion resource for the City-Level Emissions Tracker, providing broader context to the city data.

The GHG tracking information powering this tool comes from publicly available datasets, primarily from federal agencies such as the Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation, and the Environmental Protection Agency. Both Trackers display state-level data that is downscaled to the county and city levels. The values in each Tracker are estimates rather than directly measured values or the results of individual local greenhouse gas inventories.
